Pietrzyk grabs a hat-trick on historic day for Merlin Woods FC/Medtronic in the Galway Premier League

There was magic in the air out Doughiska way on Sunday morning as newly promoted Merlin Woods/Medtronic registered their first ever win the Western Hygiene Supplies Premier Division with an impressive 6-3 win over Loughrea.

Young Polish native, Mateusz Pietrzyk, took the main scoring honours with a hat-trick, as Shane Costello, Walosson Silva and Vasile Todosi all added to the tally of the home side who led 4-1 at the break.

Darren Creaven, Brian Kenny and Gavin Shaughnessy were all on the mark for the visiting side, who trailed throughout a competitive encounter.
