The Christmas period can be a very hectic time of year and having some time to relax is always needed to get away from the stress it can cause.

Nature gives us that time and doing positive things for nature can help alleviate the stress.

Friends of Merlin Woods have organised two events in the lead up to Christmas which you can be a part of as an individual,a family, a school,group or organisation.

The Winter Litter Pick will be held on December 15th at 12 noon meeting at the Merlin Woods Community Garden at the Doughiska entrance to the woodlands. It is a chance to give back to nature by helping it free itself from the rubbish which has been left behind by humans and which has negative implications for our wldlife.. It is a feel good activity and a chance to meet with others in the community.. Gloves and Bags are provided

The Hearth of Winter will be held on December 20th from 4-5pm at the roundabout on the main path of Merlin Woods. Each year  we decorate the roundabout area with homemade and recycled feeders. We light up a tree with some simple lighting and we have poetry and songs or words about nature to mark the occassion. We invite you all to come along and participate in this wonderful event which helps feed our wildlife through the harsher months of winter.
